Sex education and attitudes to sexuality: What do students tell us?

Posted on 25 November 2015 by Marian Padure

Presenter: psychologist Diana Botezan

Where and when: Office for Students with Disabilities, Dormitory III (ground floor, back entrance), Hasdeu Student Complex, Wednesday, November 25, 2015, starting at 17:00.  Admission is free.

Participants: UBB students with and without disabilities, UBB alumni, BSD staff and volunteers and other interested people.

The UBB Office for Students with Disabilities operates within the UBB Rector’s office, with the objectives of facilitating and supporting the inclusion of students with diverse learning needs in university life, as well as informing teachers and students about accessibility and disability. In this direction, BSD offers a series of educational events on accessibility (physical and social), some of them with the participation of foundations, associations and institutions (national and international) actively involved in ensuring a barrier-free life for people with disabilities.

In this workshop an exploratory study on the adaptation of a questionnaire on knowledge and attitudes towards sexuality of young people in Romania will be presented, the respondents being students of Babeș-Bolyai University. Different working definitions of comprehensive sexuality education will be presented and discussed, referring to the main sources of information young people have about puberty, the reproductive system, risks associated with sexual behaviour, contraceptive methods, sexual identity and relationships. Important elements of sexuality education for people with different types of disabilities will also be explored.

We are waiting for you at the BSD premises (Dormitory III, ground floor, Hasdeu Student Complex).
