BSD Social Evening

Estuary Foundation presents: social options and inclusive alternatives in mental health

Presented by: representatives of Estuar Foundation – Cluj Social Centre

Where and when: Office for Students with Disabilities, Dormitory III (ground floor, back entrance), Hasdeu Student Complex, Wednesday, November 11, 2015, starting at 17:00.  Admission is free.

Participants: UBB students with and without disabilities, UBB alumni, BSD staff and volunteers and other interested people.

The UBB Office for Students with Disabilities operates within the UBB Rector’s office, with the objectives of facilitating and supporting the inclusion of students with diverse learning needs in university life, as well as informing teachers and students about accessibility and disability. In this direction, BSD offers a series of educational events on accessibility (physical and social), some of them with the participation of foundations, associations and institutions (national and international) actively involved in ensuring a barrier-free life for people with disabilities.

The Estuar Foundation was founded in September 1993 by the Penumbra Association of Scotland and the Romanian Mental Health League. The first service provided by the Foundation for adults with mental health problems was Sheltered Housing, the first organisation in Romania to offer this service as a viable alternative to admission to psychiatric hospitals. The Foundation’s mission is to provide social and alternative options to adults with mental health problems for their reintegration into the Romanian community. Estuar Foundation’s work is focused on creating a model of social integration of adults with mental health problems adaptable to any community in Romania, in line with European standards. More details can be found on the Foundation’s official website (www.estuar.org).

We are waiting for you with tea, coffee and other goodies, at the BSD headquarters (Dorm III, ground floor, Hașdeu Student Complex).
