The UBB Office for Students with Disabilities operates within the UBB Rector’s office, with the objectives of facilitating and supporting the inclusion of students with diverse learning needs in university life, as well as informing teachers and students about accessibility and disability. In this direction, BSD offers a series of educational events on accessibility (physical and social), some of them with the participation of foundations, associations and institutions (national and international) actively involved in ensuring a barrier-free life for people with disabilities.
On March 11th, at 17:00, at the BSD headquarters, the Living Library event will take place, during which we will get to know the life story of Mihai Tătaru, UBB alumni (specialization in Special Pedagogy), currently producer and presenter of the radio show “A Doua Șansă”, at Radio Renașterea.
“I was born at six and a half months, and at the age of one year and a few months, the doctors found that I suffer from spastic tetraparesis. Around the age of 12, I had a series of surgeries (six), four of which were failed. In 2008 I had the opportunity to go to Linz (Austria) to correct my disability as far as possible. At the moment I use a walking frame and in recent years, thanks to medical gymnastics, I have managed to largely overcome the problems associated with the disease. I entered the media in 1998 (radio), and since 2001 I have been the producer and presenter of “A Doua Șansă” on Radio Renaissance. The show was born out of the desire for people with special needs to have a forum where they could express themselves, and from there, start some solutions. In the more than 600 editions in its 13 years of existence, we have tackled various topics, together with people who are connected with this social segment. “A Doua Șansă” was the first general disability programme (dealing weekly with all types or degrees of disability), and I was the first journalist in a wheelchair in Romania (currently using a walking frame).”
