BSD participation at Miraje Cultural Festival, 9th edition, Cluj-Napoca, April 20, 2016

Posted on 13 April 2016 by Marian Padure

Living Library – Life stories of people with disabilities

The 9th edition of the Miraje Cultural Festival, Cluj-Napoca, will host for three days (18-20 May) events dedicated to the integration of young people with special needs into the community. On the last day of the Festival, participants are challenged to a living book reading. The Living Library – Life Stories of People with Disabilities is a premiere event for Miraje, in collaboration with the Office for Students with Disabilities of Babeș-Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca (centre.ubbcluj.ro/bsd). Four lively books will try to inspire through their stories the general public and young people with disabilities at the beginning of their journey. Students, teachers and PhD students with special needs will demonstrate that disability is not a barrier to success.

Where and when: Wednesday 20 April, 11:00-12:00 (Special High School for the Visually Impaired, Cluj-Napoca) and 16:00-18:00 (Miraje Pavilion, Unirii Square, Cluj-Napoca). Admission is free.

Participants: students from special high schools in Cluj-Napoca, UBB students with and without disabilities, UBB alumni, BSD staff and volunteers and other interested people.

The UBB Office for Students with Disabilities operates within the UBB Rector’s office, with the objectives of facilitating and supporting the inclusion of students with diverse learning needs in university life, as well as informing teachers and students about accessibility and disability. In this direction, BSD offers a series of educational events on accessibility (physical and social), some of them with the participation of foundations, associations and institutions (national and international) actively involved in ensuring a barrier-free life for people with disabilities.
