Where and when: Wednesday and Thursday, 1-2 November, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at the Club Hall of the Academic College (1 November) and room 306, the UBB Building, 11 Moților St. (2 November). Admission is free.

Participants: students with and without disabilities, pupils from the special high school for the visually impaired and other interested people.

The Office for Students with Disabilities (BSD) of Babeș-Bolyai University, in partnership with the Cartea Călătoare Foundation in Focșani, the Department of Special Education and the Centre for Assistance in Access Technologies for People with Visual Impairments of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, is organising, between 1 and 2 November, two special screenings of accessible film for people with visual disabilities, in which the general public can also take part.

Special screening for the blind:

We invite you to take part in the screening of the films “Graduation” (Bacalaureat), directed by Cristian Mungiu (1 November, 4:00 p.m., the Club Hall of Babeș-Bolyai University, 1 Em. de Martonne St.) and “Sieranevada”, directed by Cristi Puiu (2 November, 4:00 p.m., Room 306, the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, 11 Moților St., 3rd floor).

The films are part of the “FAN Caravan at your home”, a project carried out by the Cartea Călătoare Foundation. The feature films are specially made accessible for people with visual disabilities. On entering the screening room, blind spectators will receive a set of headphones in which they will hear additional explanations, inserted between the actors’ lines in the film. During the screenings, blind people will be able to watch the film under the same conditions as the other spectators. The explanations received in the headphones will describe the scene changes, the actors’ facial expressions, the way they are dressed and the more important gestures, so that the blind spectator understands the action as well as possible and integrates into the atmosphere of the film.

Students with disabilities, pupils from the Special High School for the Visually Impaired Cluj-Napoca, members of the National Association of the Blind in Romania – Cluj-Napoca branch, teaching staff and students of Babeș-Bolyai University are invited to take part in the screening.
